Summary

We are looking for two people to join our board of Trustees. No previous experience is necessary, as we give full support and training.

Detailed description

We are now looking for two volunteers to join us, as trustees of our charity. You need to have some basic IT knowledge, and good communication skills. We manage four small unfurnished almshouses in Hitchin, and we aim that our residents can live in secure, comfortable accommodation.

Trustees have four meetings a year, in the evening. Each month two trustees are the residents' named contacts, enabling them to let us know if their property needs repairs or maintenance. Trustees do not carry out this themselves, but ensure that relevant contractors safely complete appropriate work. Trustees can build up good relationships with our residents, who are appreciative of the support we give them.

Our charity is a member of the Almshouse Association, which gives free, comprehensive online guidance and training to trustees.

If you have a particular interest in financial matters, our Treasurer will be able to provide guidance and support in this area of our work.

We will be happy to give you more information about this fulfilling voluntary role, and answer any queries you have.
