Volunteers in this role support our busy Facilities team to keep on top of the maintenance of our patient buildings. The work they do means that we are able to save money that would be spent on outside contractors, allowing more of our valuable resources to go to the care of our patients and families.
Facilities maintenance volunteer help the Facilities team with maintaining the fixtures and fittings in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines. There are a few regular weekly and monthly tasks as well as other ad hoc tasks and projects.
Main tasks
The tasks may include:
· minor repairs
· small decorating tasks
· putting up noticeboards, shelves, blinds
· occasional garden tasks
· premises health and safety checks
· individual projects for example, office moves
· changing batteries in door guards
· ladder checks
· Fill printers with paper
· Check lights, door locks and handles
What are we looking for?
· an experienced and competent maintenance person
· previous Health and Safety training would be an advantage
· moving and handling and ladder use is a key part of the role
· someone who is reliable and flexible with a “can-do” attitude
· a polite and considerate manner to patients, staff, volunteers and visitors
