Summary

Do you love theatre? We are currently looking for volunteers to give time to support live shows and events, ensuring customers have a great experience.

Detailed description

Broadway Cinema & Theatre is proud to be owned and run by Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, a Community Benefit Society with charitable status which puts the local community at the heart of everything it does. Volunteer Ushers provide a warm welcome across the full range of live shows including live on stage theatre performances, live on stage music, live/streamed event cinema, live comedy and special guest talks. What's more, volunteers have the opportunity to see the shows and to meet and socialise with lots of like-minded theatre fans. Please visit the Broadway Cinema & Theatre website to see the upcoming live theatre programme that we'd love volunteers to play a vital part in. The closing date for volunteer applications is Sunday 2 March 2025.

As a Volunteer Usher at Broadway Cinema & Theatre you will make a real difference to the live theatre and events experience through meeting and greeting customers, providing direction to seats, being available in the auditorium during the show, assisting audiences during intervals and after performances as well as promoting the theatre's upcoming programme.

  • Meeting and greeting live theatre and event customers
  • Answering questions about the performance
  • Providing customers with information about the venue and its facilities

  • Be seated during the performance, allowing you to enjoy the show while making sure every audience member has the best possible experience
  • Alerting the duty manager if any issues arise
  • Acting as a cultural ambassador to promote the live theatre programme
  • Engaging with customers after the performance to ensure they've had a positive experience

  • Physical preparedness: it is important to note that this role involves navigating stairs, managing heavy doors and standing for periods of time before, during intervals and after a show

What's in it for you

  • Volunteer Ushers are seated in the auditorium during the shows, allowing you to enjoy watching a wide variety of performances for free
  • Share your love of theatre and meet like-minded people
