Summary

Our gardening volunteers play a key role in maintaining our grounds and gardens. One team works on Thursday mornings, a second starts soon on Saturday mornings.

Detailed description

You will take part in a wide range of gardening tasks including digging, weeding, watering, site maintenance - whatever needs to be done to keep the site in order and looking good. It's so important for the work of the Centre and for our gardeners (the people who use our services) that the grounds and gardens are a pleasant and peaceful place to come and our gardening team is central to making this happen.

We'd like you to have an interest in gardening and some basic skills, to be prepared to work outdoors whatever the weather and to work safely, be reliable and to work as a part of a team.

We will provide a safe working environment, offer relevant training and there will be occasional social events at which you can meet the wider group of volunteers, staff and gardeners.

We believe that you, too, will get a lot out of this experience. In addition to the social benefits of working with a welcoming group of people, you may well gain some gardening skills and will be able to demonstrate that you are reliable and a good team member - all good skills if you are planning to move on to study or work or to increase the skills you can offer outside your current workplace. And - importantly - you will have an enjoyable Thursday or Saturday morning.
