Summary
To ensure students begin to understand the steps from education to employment, whilst networking and learning from the volunteers.Detailed description
Approximately 65 Yr7-13 students at Lonsdale School. The ask is for volunteers to assist in the delivery of simple recruitment activities and throughout the day tell the students about themselves. Lonsdale school is for students who are physically and neurologically impaired. Every pupil has unique and sometimes complex needs. In addition to a physical or neurological impairment, some pupils may have sensory loss, a medical condition or associated difficulty in learning. We want you to help these young people network, gain confidence and see real pathways to their desired future. Students will all be cognitively able and will take part in fully supported interview and job application challenges that employers include at an ELSA Get Work Ready day. Workshops generally last approx. 45 minutes. The ELSA workshops will allow the young people to network appropriately with people from the workplace. They will begin to understand the skills and qualities that today’s employers are looking for, be tasked with several interactive workshops, take part in discussions about various job roles, undertake a “get to know you”/mock interview and throughout aspirations will be raised. The young people will start to see their own potential, which will lead to them exploring further the opportunities that may exist for them in the future.
About ELSA Next Generation
At ELSA we feel that everyone should have the chance to achieve.
ELSA places greater emphasis on social skills, life skills and empowering young people to realise their potential.
ELSA works with all young people both in mainstream and specialist education, delivering workshops which encourage debate, discussion, honesty and aspirational pathways, all aimed to increase self-esteem and self-worth.
ELSA Next Generation works across all educational settings raising aspirations in children’s homes and with care leavers, with young people who are excluded from school, those with physical and neurological disabilities, those young people with social, emotional and mental health needs and others in mainstream schools who may simply be 'currently' getting lost in the ether.
