We are looking for local people to interview other local residents so that we can better understand:
- What it’s like to live in Letchworth
- What makes it a good place to live and what are the challenges
- What people’s hopes are for themselves and the community
- What help and support is needed and what could that look like
What will you do?
● Attend an induction session followed by three training workshops with other volunteer researchers, this will give you the skills and knowledge to conduct interviews with members of your community.
● Conduct interviews with community members who have agreed to be part of this research, to an agreed timescale.
● Record the results of these interviews, using the training and materials you have been given.
● Attend workshop sessions to help us understand and interpret the results.

What do you need to have?
You don’t need specific qualifications but you’ll need to:
● be friendly and approachable
● respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own
● have good listening skills with the ability to build trust, and be empathetic and non-judgemental
● understand the importance of confidentiality
● be able to organise tasks and keep clear written records
● be willing to attend the required training and workshops both before and after carrying out the research
● be willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies, including confidentiality, equality and diversity and data protection.
How much time do you need to give?
We expect that the research will take place over three months, following training workshops in late April.
Volunteers will be expected to give 4-6 hours per week during these months.
