Summary
This is an opportunity to combine your social media marketing experience and your concern for the environment in a desk-based online research role.Detailed description
CPRE Hertfordshire is a long-standing and well-regarded environmental charity dedicated to protecting, promoting and enhancing the Hertfordshire countryside, for everyone. By applying your skills and experience, you’ll be making a real difference and helping us find positive solutions for the issues facing the countryside and the environment.
Our social media channels – currently Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn - play a central role in bringing our work to a wider audience and attracting new people to support our charity.
You will be researching key 2025 ‘awareness’ dates for our charity, for example environmental days, and the organisations that drive these campaigns. You will also be researching new social media platforms such as BlueSky. Depending upon your interest, skills and availability, you may also create content for use in our social media.
In this role you will work independently and report directly to our Chief Executive. The role can be performed remotely from anywhere in the UK.
Time commitment is flexible, but we would like to have this research completed by late February. We estimate it would take the equivalent of 3-4 days’ time in total, but this can be spread out over several weeks, and can be done on evenings and weekends to suit your availability.
You will need to be available on a weekday for a briefing (video or phone call) at the start of the assignment and again at the conclusion.
What will you be doing?
You will use your social media marketing experience to:
· Identify and research national and international ‘awareness’ dates in 2025 that are of relevance to CPRE Hertfordshire and our activities. These will include environmental days, charity days, volunteer celebratory days, and others.
· Research the organisations (including their social media accounts) that drive these dates.
· Identify social media assets that these organisations may make available for others such as CPRE Hertfordshire to utilise.
· Compile your research into an Excel spreadsheet so that our charity can then easily plan and manage our social media activity around the relevant dates.
· Research and present your findings regarding emerging social media platforms including BlueSky, including their use by other charitable organisations, target demographics, and pros and cons for CPRE Hertfordshire.
What are we looking for?
· Several years’ previous experience of social media marketing preferably for a small or mid-sized organisation, experience to include Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
· Experience and confidence using Microsoft Excel
· Willingness to become familiar with our charity’s mission, aims and activities at the outset of the assignment
· Strong attention to detail
· Have your own computer hardware, software and internet access
· Ideally, you will have an interest in the countryside and environmental issues
What difference will you make?
At CPRE Hertfordshire we want to encourage everyone to connect with the countryside and value and enjoy it. Your social media research will play a valuable part in helping us communicate with members, stakeholders and the wider public and enabling us to reach new audiences.
What’s in it for you?
· Use your skills and experience to contribute to the success of our charity and make a positive difference to the countryside
· Have some variety from your regular work or routine
· Gain access to CPRE’s webinars / training
· Have the opportunity to learn about various issues facing the countryside
· Enhance your CV and gain valuable experience
· We can give you a reference for your future work or volunteering
About CPRE Hertfordshire
Green Belt is the countryside next door for a lot of people and its role has never been more important, while the threat of development has never been greater. It provides for nature, reduces the impact of climate change and gives people access to green spaces. In much of our campaign work we fight to uphold the protection of the Green Belt.
