Summary

Seeking a creative, experienced Designer to improve our marketing impact with new visual content for our digital and physical platforms and publications.

Detailed description

CPRE Hertfordshire, the countryside charity, is a long-standing and well-regarded environmental charity dedicated to protecting, promoting and enhancing the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside for everyone to enjoy.

We are seeking a creative, experienced Graphic Designer to improve our marketing impact. You will be creating new visual content for our charity’s digital and physical publications and platforms. You will report to our Chief Executive and work closely with other staff and volunteers.

The Graphic Design role is voluntary and highly flexible. We anticipate it will require about 2 – 3 hours per week with some peaks and troughs.

The role can be performed remotely, or if you prefer, you can volunteer in our small office in Welwyn village, Hertfordshire. Following initial induction, the role can be done flexibly in daytimes, evenings or weekends to suit your own schedule and your other commitments.

What will you be doing?

Utilising our existing brand resources and guidelines, you will:

·        Create new graphics for our social media, website, email / MailChimp, posters, flyers, newsletter etc.

·        Ensure designs and content align with our brand and effectively convey our message.

·        Organise and maintain design files and master assets.

·        With training from our Volunteer Senior Designer, create and edit videos for our charity’s projects, events and campaigns.

What are we looking for?

You should have experience in creating effective and engaging visual content for a variety of platforms. Your ability to communicate complex concepts effectively through visuals is essential. You should be a committed team player and have:

·        A minimum of three years’ Graphic Design experience.

·        Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign and/or Illustrator. (Note – you’ll be using our Canva account, but will need your own licences for Adobe and other design software.)

·        Experience in developing effective marketing materials.

·        Strong creativity and high level of design ability.

·        Excellent attention to detail.

·        Strong English language communication skills (verbal and written).

·        Previous experience in video creation and editing would be a bonus.

What difference will you make?

The material you create will be visually compelling and present the countryside and our charity in an engaging way. You will capture how people feel about the countryside, nature and the environment, and why it’s important to them. Your visuals will help CPRE Hertfordshire promote our work in a positive way and help build more support for our charity.

What’s in it for the volunteer?

CPRE volunteers are motivated to help for a range of reasons, but normally they have a strong interest in protecting and enhancing the environment, as well as encouraging people to enjoy the countryside and all it has to offer. Some of our existing volunteers have been with us for many years. Why do they volunteer with us and what might you get out of it?

·        Use your existing experience to expand your professional portfolio and develop new skills.

·        Be part of a well-respected environmental charity.

·        Volunteer alongside others who are passionate about the countryside, nature and the environment.

·        Make a real difference for a cause that you care about.

·        Participate in local and national CPRE training and events.

About CPRE Hertfordshire

We are Hertfordshire's countryside charity, we work across the county to stand up for our countryside and green spaces. We rely on committed volunteers, like you, to help us achieve our aim to protect, promote and enhance the countryside for everyone to value and enjoy.

Green Belt is the countryside next door for a lot of people and its role has never been more important, while the threat of development has never been greater. It provides for nature, reduces the impact of climate change and gives people access to green spaces. In much of our campaign work we fight to uphold the protection of the Green Belt.
