Detailed description

9 Lives Furniture is a local Hertfordshire based independent charity with 3 main objectives

1 To reduce the amount of pre-loved quality furniture going to land fill. We collect from the local area that donate to 9 Lives and then sell it in our showroom as it is or after refurbishment or upcycling which takes place in our onsite workroom

2 Help people or Means Tested benefits or in financial hardship by selling certain items at 50% off the marked price which enables these people to turn their houses into a warm and welcoming home.

3 Training people with learning difficulties or minor mental health issues to mend, refurbish and upcycle furniture donated to us,


What is expected of a trustee

Uphold the values of the charity

Ensure we operate within the Charity Commission guidelines

Attend and actively take part in Trustee meeting 4 to 5 times per year

Work in the 9 Lives Showroom on 7 Saturdays per year from 9-12,30. We support our staff, keep abreast of the running of the shop which allows us to understand our customers needs and requirements.

When possible volunteer to work within the charity either in the shop, on the van or in the office. This allows the trustees to really understand the operation of the charity.

A trustee with a skillset to help the running of the charity , IT skills, Heath & Safety knowledge, retail experience, social media knowledge, running a business or charity are just a few examples of some of the skills we use

We are an independent charity which has three aims. We help people on MEANS tested benefits by offering a free referral scheme which allows them to purchase white ticket items in our store at 50% off the marked price. We also run a free 8 week furniture upcycling course to individuals with minor mental health and/or learning issues. Our final aim is to reduce landfill
