Detailed description

About our Scout Group

The 1st/82nd Watford South Scout Group is based at the Scout Hut on the corner of Pretoria Road and Durban Road East in West Watford, and we are also very fortunate to have our very own campsite; the Lord Hyde Memorial Campsite which is set in woodland near Chandlers Cross.

We run Beaver, Cub and Scout sections and we currently have capacity for more members and also need more volunteers & helpers to help us deliver an exciting programme of activities safely.

The group has lots of potential grow the membership numbers, generate more income, benefit from positive links with the local community and involve our young people in developing an exciting programme of events.

The role of our Trustee Board

Our group is overseen by a Trustee Board. This is a team of volunteers who work together, as charity trustees, to make sure Scouts is run safely and legally. Effective trustee board governance helps our volunteers deliver fantastic programmes that give young people skills for life.

The role of the Chair of the Trustee Board

We are looking for a Chair of our Trustee Board who will lead our Trustee meetings and also lead the Trustee Board in developing, implementing & monitoring a plan for the group that includes:

• Attracting and retaining new members and volunteers

• Ensuring that we are financially sustainable and making good use of our facilities.

• Providing young people with great experiences, new skills and opportunities for adventure, fun and

friendship.

• Ensuring that at all times we operate safety and in accordance with Scout POR (policies,

organisation & rules) and that risks are managed appropriately.

This is a great opportunity to support our team of Trustees and volunteers, and ensure that the 1st/82nd Watford South Scout Group continues to play a positive role for young people in our local community.

We estimate the role will take a few hours each month including our Trustee Board meetings that are currently held monthly in the evenings. Initially the role would be for one year.

You will be able to connect with other Scout Group Chairs and Trustees, and also have the support of the South Watford District Scout team who support all the Scout Groups within our region.
