Summary

Our charity --Young Carers Crew-- is run by a board of Trustees together with a paid Youth Group Leader. We need to find one or more Trustees to join the team.

Detailed description

Our mission is to support local young carers (aged 8 to 18) through running a fortnightly group with fun activities and with a chance to gain emotional support there too--plus occasional trips.

A new Trustee will work with the team behind the scenes to ensure the safe running of the group. Depending on your skills and strengths, you may be involved in fund-raising, administration, human resources, organisation of training, website development, or any number of different roles.

You will find it very rewarding, as the group places a high value on the contribution of the trustees. You may also occasionally be able to visit the group in person, and it can be very rewarding seeing the enjoyment these young carers gain from participation in the group.

Our monthly Board of Trustee meetings normally take place in Hitchin, and it is important for Trustees to be able to attend these regularly. Most of the remaining work can take place by working from home.

You will find it very rewarding to join a team that supports the running of this vital support group for young carers.

About Young Carers Crew

Young Carers Crew (YCC) is an independent charity based in Stevenage that provides respite and support to young carers living in Stevenage and North Hertfordshire. The young carers are young people aged 8-18 that are primary or secondary carers for a member of their family.
We run fortnightly sessions and occasional outings where we hope they can ‘just be themselves’ and enjoy their time at the group.
YCC also aims to serve as a place for the young carers to get any support they may need from other young carers, or the volunteers at the group.
