An extremely rewarding opportunity to support refugees/ asylum seekers in your community by helping to teach them English
Volunteer ESOL teachers needed in Hertfordshire - particularly in:
Welwyn & Hatfield
Watford & Three Rivers
Hertsmere
North Herts & Stevenage
Key responsibilities:
- providing structured ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) support to individuals or to small groups of refugees/ asylum seekers
- providing opportunities to practise English in by befriending an individual or a particular family, helping them to settle in the UK, possibly with some of the above functions
- providing opportunities to practise everyday situations such as shopping, library visits etc
Weekly visits of 1-2 hours expected. Flexible hours.
Volunteers can claim travel expenses.
HWR will arrange and pay for DBS checks.
