Summary
Visiting visually impaired people, generally living alone, reading, filling forms, talking, listening, providing companionship or possibly going on trips out.Detailed description
Although the times specify 1-2 hours a week this is a flexible position and we appreciate any time you can give. Visually impaired people often feel social isolation and may not have many visitors or opportunities to go out. You will visit a service user in their home and mainly provide companionship but possibly also help with tasks they may find difficult. There is no domestic help or personal assistance involved. We find that both the service users and the volunteers gain a great deal from these relationships and firm friendships are often made.
