Summary

We're looking for an artist to highlight what can be seen in our medieval wall paintings and create an impression of what they would have looked like when new.

Detailed description

The medieval wall paintings in St Leonard's church are incomplete due to their age and being covered up during some of their lifetime. We would like an artist's impression created for each one outlining what you can see now and an impression of what they may have looked like when they were complete. This opportunity could involved liaising with historians about the paintings and using your own creative skills to make the ancient art works more accessible to visitors to the church. They would then be used in leaflets, and online resources to spread the heritage to a wider audience. It could be used as part of a portfolio if succesful.

About Flamstead Heritage

We are a community project set up to share the history and heritage of St Leonard's Church and the village of Flamstead. The 12th Century building was saved from closure with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Now we run a programme of community events and activities for all ages to find out more about the lives of our ancestors. We're also preserving the historic record for future generations to access.
